When you come to class with Mike, you will remember it. It might be the epic dad jokes or the short shorts – we’re not sure. One thing you may not have noticed are all the little things he’s been doing in each class. Mike was already incredibly fit when we met him. He’s an accomplished runner, strong as all get out and, has enough grit for the whole state. But, he didn’t get this honor because he just kept being fast and strong. That’s easy for him. He got it for his patience and humility. He is willing to work on fundamentals, go lighter to better his technique, and accept that some things will take time to master. It’s no small feat when you’ve been a good athlete all your life. We think that deserves some recognition, so congratulations Mike! Keep doing you man!

1. Why did you start CrossFit?

I always dabbled in Crossfit, but never really fully committed myself and a good buddy of mine just told me to just sign up at a box and just do it.

2. What advice would you give yourself before starting CrossFit?

Check yourself at the door. Have a open mindset and sometimes you’re not the biggest and strongest. Your ego is gonna take a few hits but in the end, this makes you a better person physically, and mentally.

3. What are your nutrition goals for the next 6 months?

My metabolism is always on fire but I need to try to be more healthy. More protein and vegetables. I always eat fruit.

4. How do you feel about burpees? Don’t hold back

I love burpees especially pull up burpees. Can’t stand burpees over a dumbbell though.

5. What are you reading or watching right now? Would you recommend it?

I love Jack Carr book series and movies. The terminal list and dark wolf are out on amazon right now I would watch the terminal list first then dark wolf cause it plays into a lot of the characters. I am not really a reader, I listen to more audiobooks (Cry Havoc). I just finished and it’s by Jack Carr.
