All I can say is… IT’S ABOUT DAMN TIME!

The coaches have brought up his name more times than we can count lately! The growth we’ve seen from him since coming back has been incredible — not just physically, but mentally, too. He’s stepped up in every way: pushing harder in workouts, showing up with consistency, and bringing that trademark energy (and sarcasm 😆) that makes every class better.

Frank is the guy who reminds everyone that hard work and having fun can absolutely go hand in hand. Thank you for trusting the process, showing up for yourself, and for never missing an opportunity to give the coaches a hard time — it brightens our day more than you know.

1. Why did you start CrossFit?

Johnny Semonich convinced me to sign up for CrossFit because he needed motivation to get to the gym more frequently and I was fast approaching 50.  It worked for about a week for him.  After that I was on my own which ultimately led to tailing off the first go around.  The second time my wife was looking for something more challenging to her workouts and we needed something to do as a couple.  I said “If you want a challenge I have one for you.”  She came in reluctant but got hooked pretty quickly.

2. What advice would you give yourself before starting CrossFit?

I would tell myself 3 things:

1. Have a workout buddy.  Since rejoining with my wife there have definitely been days I would have convinced myself to skip but she wouldn’t let me.  My wife inspires me every day to be a better version of myself.

2. Listen to the coaches.  CrossFit gets a bad rap for being only for athletes. There is a scaling option for everything and the coaches will help you figure out what is best for you.

3. Show up.  The biggest battle is getting there. Scale if you must but show up and move.  There are many days where I walk in reluctantly but leave grateful I showed up after class.

3. What are your nutrition goals for the next 6 months?

I have to get back to eating more greens and need to practice way more self control especially with the holidays coming.

4. How do you feel about burpees? Don’t hold back

I have been waiting for this question FOREVER!  Hate does not accurately capture my feelings.  Loathe is closer.  I have a shirt that says Burpees 1 star, would not recommend.  Honestly if my lower back wasn’t so finicky I wouldn’t mind them as much.  Luckily the coaches are more than accommodating with scaling options that get the job done.

5. What are you reading or watching right now? Would you recommend it?

My wife and I have ben watching a show called high potential with Kaitlin Olson from Always Sunny.  Its a fun crime drama show to relax and watch.  We also started streaming a show called The Mick also starring Kaitlin Olson.  The show is so ridiculous you cant help but laugh. I prefer shows that require no thinking and take me as far away from real life as possible 😉  Other than that my wife forces me to watch all the Bravo shows like Housewives,The Valley etc..   🙂
