January Member of the Month - Josh Grice


Why did you start Crossfit?

"Thanks to the Free Will Team, I am about to turn 40 but feel like I’m in the best shape of my life. I grew up playing competitive soccer and baseball and have been an avid road cyclist for many years. However, I never had a dedicated strength training program until I joined Free Will. A fellow member and friend (Joe Parks) recommended that I check it out and the program and environment seemed like it was just what I needed. The 5 AM class allows me to focus on improving myself first thing in the morning and set the tone for how to approach the rest of the day."

What accomplishment are you most proud of?

I am most proud of my dedication to sticking with the program and for achieving small goals such as doing HSPUps or adding weight to the dreaded overhead squat!

What's your next goal?

My goal simply is to KEEP GOING. I know that if I do, I will continue to improve all around. I have to give a shout out to Dave (and the other coaches) for the personal attention they provide to ensure proper form, and for the continued encouragement throughout the workout. The environment at Free Will is a great balance of competition and fun EVEN AT 5 AM!!!!!!

There is a place for every fitness level at this gym with all the workout being scalable. Each week I see myself improving and gaining confidence.
