February Member of the Month - Ashley Bard

Congratulations to our February Member of the Month, Ashley Bard!

What got you started?

I started CrossFit about 2 years ago. My husband had been going for a while before me and was always telling me that I should do it with him. I was always a runner and intermittent gym goer so this whole CrossFit thing seemed a little too intense for me! For my husband's birthday one year all he wanted was for me to go to one class with him, so I went with him one evening just to get him to stop talking about it. I think I was in the fundamentals class the next week and going to classes the week after! It was the workout, the challenge and group of people I didn't even know I was looking for. I have always gotten bored with workouts quickly but CrossFit was something that was always changing and challenging. Even if it was the same movement, it was a different weight or paired with something else. It's hard to get bored when there's the option to add weight! There is always room to modify or scale the workout, the challenge is against yourself with some friendly competition from your gym mates.

What accomplishment are you most proud of?

I feel like every WOD is an accomplishment in itself! It's such a good feeling to push through and know you've done something awesome for yourself. I am most proud of getting up and attending 5 am classes and just getting stronger overall.

What’s your next goal?

Goals are always changing and being added to...300lb deadlift, double unders, hand stand push ups, pull ups...
