Congratulations to our August member of the month, Chris! He been a regular in our afternoon classes and is consistently one of the hardest workers in the room! He was kind enough to answer a few questions about his experience with Crossfit. Check it out!
What is your fitness background and what made you want to start CrossFit? How long have you been at Free Will?
I started a personal goal 2 years ago to improve my health and fitness level. I worked to build a home gym and started weight lifting at home about 3 days a week. I started to realize my strength was increasing but my stamina and cardio was dormant. I was also concerned about performing lifts properly. I thought Crossfit would be a good fit to continue to build strength and cardio along with having a coach available to help me improve my form. I have now been a member of Freewill for 2 months and happy to say this is my first crossfit gym and glad that it is.
What accomplishments are you most proud of?
Accomplishments I am most proud of are truly being able to perform the olympic lifts properly/improved form.

115# Hang Power Snatch 1RM
Learning kipping in general for pull-ups, muscle ups (will get one soon), and HSPU.
What’s your next goal?
Nail a bar muscle up! Also, it would be really awesome to work my way up to snatching plates which will come with technique and load workouts.
Side note: I really appreciate how everyone at the gym is inviting and willing to give advice/experience with their crossfit history to help and aid me in improving. The environment and group motivation is what keeps me coming back and looking forward to the WOD.
