March Member of the Month - Jess Wagner

Congratulations Jess! This was a very tough month and we love the determination! (I didn't have a great picture from the gym, so enjoy these pictures of her firing an apple cannon!)


Give us a brief background of your fitness experience and what brought you to us.


Most of my life has consisted of me playing sports and in my late college years transitioned into running several 5ks and 2 half marathons. Like others, I did the whole gym thing but never maintained consistency nor felt I gave it my all. CrossFit was something I always had an interest in but also felt I wasn’t “good enough” for. It wasn’t until I met Brittany at work where she encouraged me to put my fears aside and just give it a try. That first class showed me the true definition of a hard workout and had people I just met giving me high-fives and cheering my name. From that moment I was hooked! CrossFit has allowed me to forget about all of my stressors for a solid hour while surrounding myself with likeminded people pushing me to limits I wouldn't push myself to on my own. This is definitely one of the best lifestyle changes I have made for myself.

What accomplishments are you most proud of?


As most can probably relate, I have a terrible mental voice that tends to tell me “I can’t do that” or “that is way too heavy!”. I think overcoming and muting that voice is my biggest accomplishment. WODs are not for the weak and I have found myself many times thinking “there is no way I can do that” only to come out in the end proving my inner self that I can do it and most importantly, I did do it!


What’s your next goal?


To be honest, I think my goals change everyday especially after seeing another member do something awesome. I think it is safe to say I’m always aiming on getting a higher box jump, 200lb+ deadlift, and more consistent SU reps!
