It’s the simplest, most important, and most difficult part of the motto. There are, however, some actionable steps we can take to be happy.
1. Take responsibility! When we constantly blame other people or external factors, we surrender our power to make positive change.
2. Respond, don’t react. We can’t control what happens to us, but we can always control our response. This is the harder of the two because it is a gut reaction. The way to improve your ability to respond is just to be aware. Whether that awareness comes 5 seconds, 5 hours, or 5 days after the fact, it’s an opportunity to learn and get better.
