Aka Mr. Consistency! To steal Dan’s own words from below, once he started, he never looked back. This is the variable most commonly linked to anyone’s success here. Just show up! Then do it again next week. We’ve watched Dan go from learning basic movements for the first time 9 months ago to doing unbelievable things on the regular. There are many, but I’ll give one example. When he started, he wanted to be able to do 10 pull ups. A week ago he did 100 pull ups in our annual Murph workout! It’s not often you get to 10x your goal!! It took a ton of dedication and grit here and we’re so proud to highlight Dan this month for those reasons and many more!
1. What were your goals when you started CrossFit?
I was looking for something challenging that would help me become a healthier father and husband but also keep me interested. I saw Free Will pop up on social media which led me to their website. I signed up for a consult and haven’t looked back since.
2. How long have you been at Free Will CrossFit?
Almost 9 months now. I will always remember my first class at Free-Will which was the 9/11 workout and thinking I may have bitten off more than I could chew, luckily not every class is that intense!
3. What is one health/fitness goal that you plan to achieve in the next 6 months?
I’m currently working on improving my mobility, specifically shoulders.
4. What do you do for a living?
I’m a project manager for an Automation company. I specialize in water/wastewater control systems and instrumentation.
5. You have control of the music. What artists/songs will dominate the playlist?
I’m definitely showing my age here, but for working out, I’d go with Clutch, Rage Against the Machine, Pearl Jam or pretty much anything heavy, loud and fast.
